Can you summarize what is allowed with DashboardAssistant's license?¶

This license allows the free right to use, modify, and redistribute DashboardAssistant's source code for any noncommercial purpose. That covers personal and hobby use, nonprofits, and also schools, universities, public research bodies, government institutions, and public safety, health, or environmental organizations — regardless of how they are funded. The goal with this license is to be as permissive as possible, while protecting DashboardAssistant against abuse.

What are my freedoms as a DashboardAssistant user under this license?¶

If you're using DashboardAssistant for any noncommercial purpose, you enjoy nearly all freedoms that come with an open source license, including the ability to view, modify, and redistribute DashboardAssistant's source code.

Can I fork DashboardAssistant?¶

Yes, as long as your intended use is noncommercial, you're free to fork, modify and redistribute DashboardAssistant under the same license terms.

Can I contribute to DashboardAssistant?¶

Yes. It is best to ask on GitHub discussions when you have bugs or want new features.

I do not accept code contributions at this moment, just for time reasons and all the AI slop out there. This project is young and I first want to make sure it is going into the right direction.

Can I sell DashboardAssistant?¶

No. Selling DashboardAssistant, including selling preflashed hardware with DashboardAssistant or its derivatives, support services for DashboardAssistant or its derivatives, etc. is not permitted under our license.

Can I make videos, blog posts, or tutorials about DashboardAssistant?¶

Yes, please do — including on monetized channels.

Writing about DashboardAssistant, reviewing it, streaming it, or teaching people how to use it is always permitted, even if your channel or site earns ad, sponsorship, or Patreon revenue. Running DashboardAssistant in order to create that content counts as a permitted noncommercial purpose, and you may use screenshots and screen recordings freely.

You may use the DashboardAssistant name to describe what your content is about. Please don't use the name or logo in a way that suggests your content is official or endorsed by the project.

What this doesn't cover: selling DashboardAssistant itself, or hardware with it preinstalled — see "Can I sell DashboardAssistant?" above.

Is DashboardAssistant Open Source?¶

According to the Open Source Initiative (OSI) it is not Open Source. It would be Source Available.
